The Twinblock jaw is an orthodontic device that works to bring the lower jaw forward or backward, often used for children of growing age to treat cases of depression or overgrowth of the lower jaw. This is a very effective support tool for the fixed orthodontic process at a later stage.
1. Mechanism of action:
The twinblock function consists of two parts of the jaw, the upper and lower jaws, which “lock” the lower jaw and orient the lower jaw to develop in the most beneficial direction. Sometimes, the upper jaw is also designed with snails to expand the width of the upper jaw. The zinc is fixed to the rear teeth on the inside. The wire inside the tooth works to slowly widen the upper jaw.
2. Jaw wearing time:
Patients will wear jaws for about 12-18 months.
3. Notes when wearing jaws:
- Disassemble and activate the screw according to your doctor’s instructions
- Wear your jaw all day and continuously even when chewing and sleeping.
- Always keep your jaw clean and your oral hygiene clean
- Visit the doctor on time for the doctor to check and adjust according to the plan
