What is Orthodontics?

Orthodontics  (also known as braces, clamps) is a specialized branch of dentistry, specializing in treatment to change the position of misaligned teeth – a very important part of chewing. Today, in modern dentistry, orthodontics also contributes to facial aesthetics, control of the shape and development of the jawbone for children in the growing age.

Unlike surgery cutting and moving jawbone, including teeth to the desired position in just one surgery, orthodontics uses force to eventide teeth through devices such as brackets and archwires or transparent trays to generate light force to continuously move teeth to the desired position slowly, moving teeth will pull the alveolar bone to a new position, thereby helping to reposition the lips.
HOW DO I KNOW I NEED CORRECTION?

Based on the results of a physical exam and specific analysis, your doctor or orthodontist can determine if you need orthodontic treatment. However, the decision is always yours.

Some problems you can easily identify yourself:
PROCESS OF ORGANIC CONSULTING AND TREATMENT AT iMED DENTAL

Step 1: Clinical examination and documentation orthodontics

Your doctor will examine and make a preliminary assessment of your oral health and problems. In this first session, you will need to take some more film X-rays, take pictures, take impressions, in some cases can record clips and 3D scan facial images to make medical records.

Step 2: Consult a detailed treatment plan

After analyzing and evaluating bone and tooth indexes based on the collected data, the doctor will make a specific diagnosis and treatment plan (including technique, implementation time, estimated cost). Persons under the age of 18 or those who have not yet made their own decisions about a treatment plan need a guardian to accompany them to this session.

Step 3: Orthodontic as planned

The doctor will proceed to attach brackets / elastic depending on each case. Then every 2-4 weeks, you will have regular follow-up visits until the end of the orthodontic process.

Step 4: Finish the profile

Similar to the beginning, before finishing orthodontic treatment, you will redo the steps of taking X-rays and photos for the doctor to analyze and re-evaluate the treatment results before finishing.

Step 5: End treatment and maintain

Before removing your braces, your doctor will talk to you about the results of your treatment and what to keep in mind after finishing treatment. You will then be provided with a retainer set to wear for at least 1 year to maintain the current state of your teeth.
