Orthodontics is an “arduous” process to receive the result of a tooth that is not only beautiful but also healthy. During the orthodontic process, many of you must have encountered unpleasant and confused problems that do not know how to solve. iMed Dental has summarized the most common problems and offered a solution, hoping you will peacefully overcome 2 years of braces to pick sweet fruits 🙂
1. Food problems:
This is the most frequent problem due to the existence of braces and bowstrings as food attachment points and difficult to clean.
Treatment: Brush your teeth, use dental floss, interstitial brush to clean. Try to clean food to avoid dental problems.
2. Protruding hard wire:
Sometimes during braces adjustment, the bowstring may become redundant due to teeth moving or shoving while chewing. Signs that can be seen are palpable with the hand or feeling with the cheek a piece of excess wire.
How to handle: Spot treatment with orthodontic wax that seals the end of the wire to avoid scratches. In case the bowstring is too long, you can use scissors or nail clippers to cut off the excess string. Contact the clinic immediately for instructions on handling as soon as possible.
3. Peeling braces:
The braces are mounted on the teeth with a specialized adhesive adhesive, however the degree of adhesive is just enough so as not to harm the enamel. In case of too strong pressure (biting hard, tough objects,…) the braces may peel off, you will see loose braces, sometimes if it is the last brace, you will see the whole piece of the rear bowstring slip off, causing entanglement to the cheeks.
How to handle: Contact the clinic for the earliest processing. In case of extreme discomfort, orthodontic wax is used to cover the position of the brace, if the rear tooth braces are detached, you can treat it as an excess bowstring, cut loose segments with scissors or nail clippers, retain the braces and then bring them to the clinic to be fixed.
4. Mouth heat, mouth ulcers:
Some braces sites may occur heat/ulceration of the oral mucosa due to bodily reaction to the instrument or instrument entanglement.
How to handle: Use orthodontic wax to seal the lesion sites. Usually this condition goes away on its own due to the adaptation of the body. In case of severe injury, contact the clinic for instructions.
5. Gingivitis
The main reason is poor oral hygiene, food deposits create tartar, plaque, sometimes can bleed spontaneously. Severe conditions can cause inflammation around the teeth, tooth shaking that affects the treatment process.
How to handle: Clean tartar, good oral hygiene.
6. Bending, warping, loosening instruments:
The cause is too strong when chewing or bumping when playing sports or activities.
How to handle: Contact the clinic as soon as possible, long-term warping can negatively impact tooth movement and treatment results.
